This was originally released on Vulture Rock records for a vinyl only
release. Pure Impact has released the album on CD. 13 songs of violent
anthems about drinking, bashing commie traitors, and just havin' plain
ole skinhead fun. "Thugs not drugs" stands out above the rest.
Ultra-patriotic, ultra-violent... no bullshit American Oi!(-core) from
Connecticut, if your not a vinyl collector make sure to get this CD release.

Glad Peter from Pure Impact sent me some of his older
stuff because this is a real classic. Y.O. were a short-lived Oi-core
band out of CT that played a mix of street punk and old 80s NYHC
that reminded me a bit of the old CT masters, Forced Reality. As Ive
said before, few bands can pull this off but these guys managed to.
There was one fast n catchy anthem after another. Musically, the
lineup was tight, and they thankfully avoided anything like ballads,
boring slow numbers, songs about fashion, etc. in favor of quick odes
to America, standing up for each other and of course, their brew of
choice and pride of Milwaukee, Pabst Blue Ribbon. My favorite track
music-wise was Aggro, which was almost straight out HC and then added
a really sweet rock and roll style guitar solo. United Skins was also
outstanding, being more of a melodic sing a long Oi! number. As previously
mentioned, the lyrics on here covered things like brotherhood, patriotism,
fighting, drinking, etc. in a straight from the gut, non-PC way. There
were a couple of standouts though, first being the song Thugs Not Drugs
that was a great indictment of drug use in the subculture as well as
Generation: Lost which was about how the 60s counterculture/new
left movement is really made up of the children of the rich. The packaging
on this was of course perfect, with multiple band photos, all the lyrics
and the now classic PBR and Stars and Stripes cover. Its a shame
these guys had to split after one release like this, Id have loved
to see them evolve and mature because the raw material was definitely
there to make a great band. Anyway, I definitely recommend this one.
One of the few American bands of the last five years to come along with
both great music and a little something to say along with it. Pick this
up.

The Youthful
Offenders have been together since about 1996 or so. Jim (vocals), Tom (drums),
and Adam (bass) played in poor excuses for bands before Brian (guitar) came
along. The four of us then put out a crappy demo, which Wayne (lead guitar)
heard and liked, I guess. He had just quit and / or been kicked out of Hatebreed
so he needed another band to join.
Since his arrival, we've recorded a demo, a 7" EP, a full length
record, and 4 tracks for various compilations.
Discography:
- 2 out of print demo tapes
- the "Independence day" EP released on Vulture rock Records
with 2 songs off the LP and 2 songs off the "Bloodshed" demo
tape
- the song "Face Up To It" on the "The spirit can't be
killed" Warzone tribute CD on Hatecore Records of Indiana
- the "Domination" LP released on Vulture Rock Records (sold
out)
- "Domination" soon to be released on CD on Pure Impact
- 3 new songs on the next "Super yobs" compilation due out soon
on Vulture Rock Records.
Over our history, we've played with The Bruisers, Oxymoron, The Dropkick
Murphys, Agnostic Front, Murphy's Law, The Anti-Heros, Forced Reality
and about a million other awesome and not-so awesome punk, Oi! and hardcore
bands.
I guess the latest news is that we just got back from the "Midwest
Oi! Fest" in Kansas City, Missouri. It was two days of awesome Oi!
bands from all around the US. We made the trek across the country with
Connecticut legends Forced Reality to play this show, and it proved to
be well worth the non-stop driving and speeding tickets. Awesome bands
to watch out for that we saw during the fest are the Brassknuckle Boys
and The Staggers (formerly Riot Squad). And if you haven't picked up the
new Forced Reality 7" and CD EP, your missing out on some world class
rock n roll.
Youthful Offenders is sort of in a transition process right now, so really
we are just looking to write some new material and play out of Connecticut.
Recently Mikey Dingle has more or less joined the band on guitar, playing
with us a lot filling in for Wayne. Vinyl collectors, take note: as for
the "Domination" LP released on Vulture Rock, we have the last
100 or so remaining copies. Vulture Rock is out of them and will not be
re-pressing them. So, if you want a copy, e-mail us at youthfuloffenders@yahoo.com
or pbrontap@aol.com and we'll send
one out. This is your last chance to pick up the LP version of our debut
full-length before Pure Impact releases the CD version.
We don't have our own webpage now, but visit www.forcedreality.net
and we'll be there.
